Culburra Beach is located 2 1/2 hours drive south of Sydney. It has two surf beaches that are patrolled on weekends and during summer school holidays. The beaches are located either side of Penguin Head which face in different directions providing different surf conditions. The regional boat ramp is loacated at Crookhaven Heads which provides easy access to the offshore fishing grounds and both the Crookhaven and Shoalhaven Rivers. A variety of accommodation is available including B&B, Motel, House rentals and two caravan parks (see accomodation page). Culburra has a bowling club that offers sit down and takaway meals. Culburra Beach has a wide variety of fishing options to offer from shore based or boat. It is the gateway to "The Banks" located 20 minutes from the Crookhaven River Mouth, is the most productive inshore fishing ground on the South Coast. To the south of the River Mouth lies a multitude of broken reef where good catches of snapper are common. To the north of the river is the flathead grounds east of the Shoalhaven Heads Surf Club. The river is famous for flathead, blackfish and mulloway. The beaches hold salmon and tailor all year round and good cathes of whiting are made during the summer months
